Benjamin Dutreux
A committed sailor and rising star in the Vendée Globe, Benjamin Dutreux embodies a new generation of skippers combining performance, humility and conviction.
Born in 1990 in Villeneuve-d’Ascq, Benjamin grew up in the Vendée region, not far from the coastline that was to shape his destiny. From an early age, he developed a passion for the sea and competition, which he put into practice by joining the sailing sports-study program and then entering the professional circuit.
After starting out in Mini 6.50s and Figaros, he moved on to top-level ocean racing with tenacity and talent. In 2020, he achieved a real feat in his very first Vendée Globe, finishing 9th aboard one of the oldest boats in the fleet. A performance hailed by the entire nautical world, symbolizing his rigor and fighting spirit.
But Benjamin Dutreux is more than just a sailor: he’s also a man committed to the environment, who places ocean preservation at the heart of his project. With his team GUYOT environnement – Team Europe, he sails with a dual ambition: sporting and responsible.
In 2024, he took part in the Vendée Globe for the second time, achieving a second top-10 finish and once again reaching his initial goal.
As a guest at the Astrée MES Day in October 2025, Benjamin will share with us his inspiring journey, his daily life as a top-level athlete and the parallels between solo sailing, decision-making and project management.
