Benjamin Dutreux

French offshore sailor and skipper. Completed two solo, non-stop circumnavigations of the globe in the Vendée Globe.

A committed sailor and rising star of the Vendée Globe, Benjamin Dutreux embodies a new generation of skippers who combine performance, humility, and conviction.

Born in 1990 in Villeneuve-d’Ascq, Benjamin grew up in the Vendée region, not far from the coastline that would shape his destiny. From childhood, he developed a passion for the sea and competition, which he pursued by joining sailing programs and then launching his professional career.

After starting out in Mini 6.50 and Figaro, he made his way into high-level offshore racing with tenacity and talent. In 2020, he achieved a remarkable feat in his very first Vendée Globe, finishing 9th aboard one of the oldest boats in the fleet. His performance was praised by the entire sailing community as a symbol of his rigor and fighting spirit.

But Benjamin Dutreux is not just a sailor: he is also a man committed to the environment, who places the preservation of the oceans at the heart of his project. With his team GUYOT environnement – Team Europe, he sails with a dual ambition: sporting and responsible.

In 2024, he will take part in the Vendée Globe for the second time and finish in the top 10 again, once more achieving his initial goal.

As a guest at the Astrée MES Day in October 2025, Benjamin will share with us his inspiring journey, his daily life as a top athlete, and the parallels between solo sailing, decision-making, and project management.
